Fix Your Money Mindset by Studying Successful People

The very best way to change your mindset about anything is to read books, listen to Podcasts, watch YouTube videos, and educate yourself about the topic fully. Read the things you think you disagree with.

Look at their references. Look at the facts from both sides and especially from the side of successful people that you would like to emulate. Understand why you may have been taught something so erroneous and learn the truth from studying successful people that you can feel good emulating.

Read books that feature people you admire who have achieved what you want to achieve and who come from similar or harsher backgrounds. This is going to help you learn the steps they took to overcome their own blocks to finally experience success. Read books about investing, business finance, and more. The more you can surround yourself with financial books that show you the way to success, the better.

Listen to Podcasts about people’s stories from rags to riches. Those are always fascinating because it is so extremely rare to break from the class of your family and closest friends. But the point is, it does happen. It can happen to you too if you take the steps and do the work that is needed to succeed.

One of the things that wealthy and connected people do for themselves and their kids is find mentors. Does their kid want to learn banking? OK, send them over to Uncle John’s bank where the banker will take them under their wing and teach them everything they know, firsthand. This is a great way to learn by finding someone just a couple of steps above your path who is navigating successfully and getting them to mentor you.

One final way to accomplish all this learning and growing faster is to find a mindset business coach. Ideally, the coach would have worked with very successful people who have offered testimonials and recommendations about the coach. People you can follow and get to know separately from your coach.

The main takeaway here is that you need to learn new things from a new perspective. This is especially true if you’re surrounded by well-meaning and loving friends and family who like to say you can’t succeed, you can’t do “that,” and for goodness sakes – don’t try that -- who also share other “truths” that are too limiting.

You have to find people with a new perspective. It’s amazing how different we really are especially when it comes to money depending on how you were raised and in what class you were born. Knowing these differences, and then understanding what really works and what doesn’t, is going to be a game-changer for your business.
