Why LinkedIn Is More Than Just a Platform—It’s a Community

When I first joined LinkedIn, I had just 98 connections. Like many, I saw it as a professional networking platform, a place to showcase my experience and maybe land some opportunities. But what I didn’t expect was that in just nine months, I would grow my network to over 6,500+ connections and, more importantly, build a supportive, engaged community that would help me thrive in my business. More than just numbers, this journey has shown me that LinkedIn is not just a platform—it is a powerful ecosystem of relationships, opportunities, and collaborations.

The Power of a Supportive LinkedIn Community

LinkedIn often gets mistaken for just another social media platform, but it is so much more than that. It is a place where professionals from all over the world come together, not just to network but to support, inspire, and uplift one another.

One of the biggest surprises for me was the generosity of my network. The people I met were not just looking to promote themselves but were genuinely interested in helping, sharing knowledge, and growing together. This sense of community made all the difference in how I approached my business.

Through LinkedIn, I have:

  • Connected with like-minded professionals who share my values and vision.
  • Received referrals and new clients every single month.
  • Engaged in meaningful conversations that led to valuable insights and collaborations.
  • Built real friendships with people who support and celebrate my journey.

If you approach LinkedIn as just another platform to collect followers, you are missing out on the magic that makes it truly special.

How I Grew My LinkedIn from 98 to 6,500+ in 9 Months

Many people ask me how I managed to grow my LinkedIn presence so quickly and, more importantly, how I consistently get clients from LinkedIn. The answer? Consistency, engagement, and authenticity.

Here’s a breakdown of what worked for me:

1. Showing Up Every Day

Growth on LinkedIn doesn’t happen overnight. I made it a priority to be consistent with my presence. That meant posting, engaging, and networking every single day.

2. Creating Valuable Content

I focused on content that was useful, authentic, and engaging. My posts weren’t just about promoting my services but about sharing my journey, lessons, and insights. I shared:

  • Successes and struggles in business.
  • Lessons I learned from working with clients.
  • Practical tips to help my audience.
  • Personal stories to connect on a deeper level.

3. Engaging with Others

I didn’t just post and disappear. I made sure to comment on other people’s posts, celebrate their wins, and contribute to conversations. LinkedIn is about relationships, and relationships are built through meaningful interactions.

4. Outreach

I sent connection requests. My goal was to build genuine relationships, not just add numbers.

5. Leveraging Direct Messages

Many of my clients didn’t just come from my posts; they came from conversations in the DMs. I reached out to people, checked in on them, and offered help without being salesy.

The Daily LinkedIn Routine That Worked for Me

If you want to build a thriving community on LinkedIn, you need a daily system. Here’s what my daily LinkedIn routine looks like:

Morning Routine (20-30 mins)

  • Check and respond to messages.
  • Engage with at least 5-10 posts from my network.
  • Comment thoughtfully on posts related to my industry.
  • Post valuable content.
  • Share insights, tips, or personal experiences.
  • Engage with comments on my post.

Midday/afternoon (20-30 mins)

  • Send connection requests.
  • Follow up with new connections.
  • Check notifications and engage with relevant discussions.

Why LinkedIn Works for Business Owners & Coaches

For coaches, consultants, and service-based business owners, LinkedIn is one of the best places to attract clients without relying on ads. When you consistently show up, provide value, and nurture relationships, clients come to trust you and see you as an authority in your field.

Unlike other platforms, where the focus is on likes and vanity metrics, LinkedIn rewards genuine engagement, conversations, and relationship-building.
